More about Valentin Himmelberger

In the transcription of the shipslist there are two Valentins: 'HEMMELBERGER, Vallentin' and 'HENNEBERGER, Valentin' (a 'HENEBERGER, Hans Melgior' is also on the list). Another source indicates that the name in this list is spelled Hammelberger.
Valentin Hemmelberger was not able to sign his name so he made a mark and the name was written in by the clerk
The other Valentin (Henneberger) could write (at least his own name).
Since our Valentin couldn't write when he made his will, we can come to the conclusion that Valentin Henneberger and Hans Melchior Henneberger are not the persons we are looking for.
Mr. Howell indicated that Valentine [sic] Himmelberger had eight children, philip, elizabeth, catharine, george, jacob, susanna, clara and eva.

This is taken from either the A or B list, which is fairly notorious for being incomplete and inconsistent. The C list (pledge and oath in front of city officials) is generally better although it was not mandatory. As there were supposedly 200+ on the ship I think and it only included males of majority age there appear to be lots missing.
